Collie? No, Sheltie!

I shock people all the time with Edan and CJ. I get asked either how old they are or how big they will get and the response that they are 10 years old and fully grown just surprises many.

Keiran was enamored with our FedEx driver on Friday, who kept calling them mini-Collies. I would just mentioned something like 'yes my Shelties do/are...' in my sentence and it went right over his head. I figured it wasn't worth pressing the point with him. He was being friendly with the dogs so I let it go.

I get the same with Gavin. That he is 10 years old and fully grown just surprises many. Guess his gray hairs aren't that noticeable

I guess when you're five years old, everything looks big.

Oh totally! My brother asked me how big my first Sheltie was going to be....we grew up with a Sheltie. I said, "um, he's full grown" and he said, "Prince was a lot bigger" and I said, "no, we were a LOT smaller!". LOL. My dad/mom agreed, Prince was about the same size as Miko. We were, y'know, 4 feet shorter. Perspective, right? LOL.

I would say of the people who comment when we walk by (which is a lot), about 55% say "look it's a mini Lassie!", 20% say "he looks like a little fox!", and the remaining 25% ask "is that a miniature collie?". I've almost got an auto response to the last one now, I don't even mean to say it but it always comes out the same.
