Conversion -- Complete

I haven't been on in quite a while, lots of new events happening in my world, and thought I'd share it with all of you.

Last time I was here I was attempting an adoption of Rum -- a BC caught up in a divorce -- come to find out when I took him to the vet to be evaluated he had a grade 3 heart mumur due to a valve not closing as it should have at birth. I figured something was not quite right because he was not as energetic as a BC should be. Needless to say I wasn't willing to go through that, the breeder took him back to live out what he could with her, (it was just too much for me after the heartache that I went through with Moonshine).

So Whiskey and I took a break, and now we have a bit of pretty exciting news. I knew I couldn't stay a one dog household for a long time, so we contacted Whiskey's breeder who pointed us in the direction of another breeder in the southern part of my state. Funny part is that is where Whiskey's grand-sire was bred from. So I had looked them up when I had his full pedigree.

So to make a long story short I've been speaking with this breeder for a little over a month now, and she had two pups she had held back from the previous litter as show prospects. When I went out to her home to meet them I completely fell in love with one of them. And she's decided to let him go to me as a sport/pet home.

Very excited for this pup, all health testings are done and I was able to look them up on the OFA, and every pairing in his pedigree dam and sire are Ch and many Duel Am/Can Ch. Temperment is fantastic, and will be able to pick up with Whiskey and I in Rally-O and Beginner Agility once he's older.

I get to pick him up for good on Saturday! I think I've become truly Sheltie-only household :lol:
 
I'm so sorry, too. Rum seemed such a cutie pie. But there is some great news in your new pup!

Tell us all about him. Is he sable as well? Any thoughts on names?

I'm thinking... Cognac. Hehe. Scotch? You'll figure it out!
 
He's just four months old. Actually Scotch is what I was thinking. For a registered name I was thinking of using:

Twin Acres Black Label Smooth : "Scotch"
Twin Acres Blue Label Gift: "Scotch"
Twin Acres Scotch on the Rocks: "Scotch" (this one seems over done to me though.)

But I am still teetering on Scotch vs. another scottish drink. Can't divert from the alcohol.

And yes he's a bi-factored Sable...a bit darker than Whisk. He's really a fantastic little dog. He's going to be taller than Whiskey I think breeder is guessing 15" at full growth but he may out grow that, he's very well put together, as I said the breeder was keeping him on show prospect. A lot more stable temperment as well, he's very sure of himself. Not Hyper but I can see drive in his eyes. I plan on bringing a few pup discs with me on Saturday just to see how he does.

You poor guy Alex, you certainly have had some bad luck when it comes puppies!

I'm really excited for you that you'll be getting another sheltie soon. Can't wait to see photos of him!
 
Congratulations, Alex, how exciting!! We can't wait to see pictures of little Scotch. And hooray for another Sheltie-only household -- you'll be hooked. As we all say, you can't have just one, and they do better in bunches. I'll bet you can't wait to bring him home. Good luck and enjoy!
 
If he's a sable, you might what to go with the "red or gold label" for his name.

So maybe, Twin Acres Gold Label Smooth?

I'm actually considering the name Walker or Jack for my next pup because I'm doing the alcohol theme too. :biggrin2:
 
Congratulations and so sorry that it did not work out with Rum. So excited about the new boy. I like the all of the names, but like the suggestion of a scotch with red or gold for his coloring. Or what about a beer name. Ale, Guinness?
