Dear little Tully not good

Saw Tully again tonight, she is walking around now. But I can't get her to eat, she hasn't eaten since last Friday and because of her IBD they can't give her any recovery food.

I'm so confused, She is so teriibly unhappy there. In the consult room she was walking around and around, so I took her outside for a while, but that made it worse because when we got back inside she got herself so worked up. I had to hold her to calm her down and then she crashed. The specialists are optimistic, as long as she eats, but she isn't. And she is so stressed and not herself, but if I bring her home she dies.

When Gavin passed.....there is always a possibility he could have recovered from his internal bleeding that night since looking back he had before.
But then he could have died alone one day when I wasn't there :(
Maybe I should have waited and then brought him home and had him put to sleep there....I did tell the vet I would like to have a day or so to do that that but they weren't encouraging. In fact, there was a tone of blaming me for having let it get to this? I didn't understand why she was so disapproving of me, like how stupid I was for not knowing it was cancer everywhere and I shouldn't be upset and shocked. that I should have expected this since he was 17.

Like doctors, a lot of veterinarians don't have a decent bedside manner.

I wish I had some magic words that would make both you and Tully all better, or even some wise words that would help you as you face this dilemma. Unfortunately i have neither. I do pray that God gives you the wisdom to do what's right, the strength to carry through, and peace in knowing that whatever you decide is what's best for her.

Tully has taken a turn for the worse, don't think she is going to make it.

She was just playing with Kismet on Friday afternoon, then I left the barrier to the laundry slightly ajar and she managed to get through the gap, fall down the stairs and get into the kitty litter tray 0 which is where I found her, chomping on cat poop.

Tully hasn't had a drink since then, and while I took her to the ER they didn't put her on a drip. But she's been getting weaker and I couldn't find a vet to look at her. Finally found one this afternoon and he ran bloods and it looks like kidney failure.

Putting her on a drip to see if she rallies, given her amazing ability to push through, but it doesn't look promising.

My beautiful sweet girl, they just break your heart.

Well I thought I had good news, she picked right up and was eating, and was going to come home today. Turns out she's not eating because her teeth are sore, so it's on to soft food. Kidney values had actually gone right down to the point of being not too bad for an old dog (prob back to stage 2).

Unfortunately I just got a call from the specialist, she has a fever from an infection at the IV site. I am so angry about this - I noticed that leg was sore on Wednesday and they did nothing. And their infection control around the catheter has been poor - with Tully being old and on steroids infection control is really, really important. So while they were hopeful about getting the kidneys under control, there is more concern with an infection. And there are no specialists there on the weekend.

I should mention, Tully knows many of the nurses there, she's been there a lot over the years and has trained with many of them, so while it's not home and it's noisy she is still in familiar surroundings. While I do miss her at least she is not completely alone
