Gavin welcomed me home today with

Add a small amount of gatorade to his water to help on hydration. Very dilute was what I was told with Sca when he was a puppy.

We are using pedialyte :) Less sugars. But I added some to his water.
He seems to like the pedialyte, too.
I am trying to keep Gavin from drinking too much water too fast, actually. So I am making sure the water bowls are at pretty low capacity. The syringe helps slow that down, thankfully. He gets another (20mL) syringe before I go to work.

we are an hour post feed.. I went with a little of the RC wet food as a test. If that stays down I will add in pumpkin into that tonite.
Sadly, I know all this will mean nasty diarrhea will continue to be in my immediate . But that is nothing if Gavin is getting better..

I don't know where Gavin could have picked up a bug except maybe the beach? I know that salt water there isn't good (there is a health warning about swimming and bacteria), and Gavin always gets hosed down after, but he did get a mouthful when he slipped while wading. His vomiting was over 2 days (and 3 feedings) after this incident though...That was definitely on my mind when this came up, and would have been high on my list to tell the vet if we needed to go. But Gavin is way more comfortable at home getting fluids orally than us waiting for hours at the emergency vet (I'd probably need to bring the wagon).
 
It doesn't sound like the beach incident is connected being 2 days after. Seems all the cases I've read about were literally hours after. Is it possible he ate a wet leaf or something on a walk? Piper and Finnie are constantly trying to pick up wet disgusting leaves and that is something that could easily upset the tummy. Heck, Piper threw up this morning after drinking too much water...just water he vomitted (and shortly after eating) so anything can start the upset.
 
Our walk was at 8AM, and just around the block. while other dogs do the same route, Gavin didn't eat anything or do anything not normal. His vomiting started at 3PM. So 7 hours later.

I am getting ready for work...hoping we are good today.. been 2 hours since food. Gavin came and visited me in the bathroom during my shower, so he is feeling better.
 
Safely at work.
Gavin wanted to go out before I left, so we went on a little walk to the potty area. Tiny amount of diarrhea.
Gave him a big more of the royal canin food and some pedialyte.
He is sleeping in his dog bed in the living room right now.
Hopefully things will be uneventful today

I sure hope so! I feel so bad for you both!
 
I've been watching him all afternoon. He appears pretty settled (not anxiously moving from place to place, no pacing) so I am hopeful!
I will be home in about 2 hours..
 
feels wrong to say 'yippee for diarrhea'....
Gavin went where he is supposed to (guest bathroom). might be 2 incidents as one was more dried..
But NO vomit :)

so dinner is pumpkin and RC wet food.
we will add in some kibble tomorrow if all goes well
