Howling sheltie!

I know this is a VERY old thread, but thought it might be fun to try and get it going again.

Here is one of my FAVORITE videos, the one I managed to get of Ginny howeling. She does this when we leave the house, return or when she's crated and knows we're there somewhere.

It NEVER fails to make me smile!

Bentley does this SAME thing when we leave him inside and we're outside. It's not as high pitched (not that it's manly in any way--haha!). It's so funny because we have NEVER seen him do it. I always try to throw the door open real fast to catch him, and he always stops before I can see him. Maybe I will set up a video camera.

And yes, he'll do it whenever he's alone and we're not around. Typically, when he can hear us outside, but he's inside, etc. Sounds just like Ginny. I never got it on video though. I'll have to figure out how to do that. ;)

I can't recall if my breeder said it's normal with hers or not, but she said he's never howled at her place and Miko doesn't, so this isn't learned in my case.

I agree, I still think it's cute even though I want him to be quiet so we don't get thrown out of our home, lol.

Ginny only does it when she can still hear us. Pretty sure she doesn't do it during the day. She also doesn't do it as much as she used to, since it doesn't get her out of her crate any faster. Its never been a problem for us, just something extremely funny. Luckily we live in a very old house that is quiet sound proof so you don't hear it much unless the windows are open.

My laptop has a built in web cam and microphone, so I just hit the record button and left it in front of her crate.

I'd set it up up before we left to do groceries but I didn't want to leave it on while we were gone and I couldn't get her to howl. When we got home I ran right upstairs and turned it on, and about a minute later she started. I'm really glad we got it when we did, I don't think we could catch her now, since she no longer does it all of the time.

Sadie has never howled, even after hearing Ginny.

Fluffy used to howl, but she seems to have stopped. She is the first sheltie I have ever had that has howled, and it was so cute!

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Not Arooooo. Just woooooooooo.

Hmmm....I'm starting to think Koji and Bentley are related.
