Is my husband nuts, or does anybody else do this too?

Well OK I blush to say it - the song I sing to Asta is "Asta Mae the Beautiful"
to the tune of "America the Beautiful". Haven't come up with a song for Ally yet but have a feeling she would roll her eyes, anyway.

Sharon

PS Our first kitty Katie had the "Katie Mae Reville" and it would bring her running!

I'm kind of music obsessed so I sing all the time, including often when walking in the street. Naturally I sing all kinds of stuff at my dog. These songs can take many tunes, depending on what happens to be in my head.

The words are mostly variations on nicknames we have for the dog, which are too ridiculous for me to want to repeat here; to my mind it's reminiscent of the way that couples sometimes talk to each other in baby talk, which anyone else would find nauseating/embarrassing. :o

(In fact, there's a chemical called Oxytocin which is released in the brain when mothers are bonding with their babies, which is also released when lovers are together (offering a potential reason for the baby talk), as well as when we bond with our dogs.)

Anyway, my latest song for Dylan is to the tune of "Master of the House" from Les Miserables. That's all I will reveal. :biggrin2:

My favorite song to sing is "Reunited and it feels so good" when my daughter gets off the bus and Dandie dives into her arms and they hug and kiss for like five minutes. It cracks me up how attached the two of them are.

I always sing to Chloe, If you can't be with the one you love, then honey, love the one your with. Because chloe loves EVERYONE and just wants cuddles and pets.

PERFECTLY sane, unless we're insane too! lol..

To tell a secret....we have voices we've made up for each of our furkids. They actually have conversations with each other in their "human voices" haha.. Rookie is the young, naive one whose brother "Baron can do no wrong," Spring is the little "Princessesa" who is oh, so delicate and ladylike....and Baron is the #1 in charge, been around the world a bit....knowledgeable one the others look up to.

Okay...commit us! lol

EVERY dog that came into our house got a Christmas song. I don't remember them all of the songs now, but they were all parodies of various Christmas tunes. I'd make them up based upon some individual characteristic. Was a lot of fun and I enjoyed doing it.

Also, they ALL got nicknames. That was a rule too. They weren't a full-fledged member of the house until they got a nickname. :)

I just came up with another one yesterday. Sort of. The pups were wrestling on my bed, which I always discourage. They looked at me like I was crazy when I started saying this. Ginny gave me her head tilt.

Three little shelties jumpin' on the bed.
Ginny fell off and bonked her head.
Momma called the doctor,
and the doctor said,
No more shelties jumpin' on the bed!

I'm sure you can guess the other versus. Creative, eh? :o
