Terri, Simba was over size for standard. But not as big as your Marty is...Simba weighted just under 30 pounds. Also, how much did he weigh? Was he a large Sheltie?

We have tried those on our other dogs. They didn’t want to use them. I’m thinking since Marty sleeps so well at night that this might be the way to go. I purposely looked for a human grade type of mattress topper. We will see??You might want to check out the orthopedic pet beds that are available. Teddy has 1 and he loves it. If my memory serves me right, his was about 50 dollars and I purchased it off Chewy.com
Thank you for your thoughts. He’s been dealing with this on and off for awhile now and we did run a complete Lyme panel which includes many other Lyme related diseases. I would think something would have shown up somewhere?I would repeat a Lyme panel. Lyme's is tricky. Brodie showed up negative with his first limping round. A month later when the limping returned and was worse, he finally tested positive. 4 days of antibiotics (full course was 30 days) the limping stopped. The test only reacts to Lyme's antibodies in the blood and while an active infection may be brewing, it takes about 4 weeks for those antibodies to appear.
Hope you get some answers.
We did have videos and they were very helpful. The hope is it has something to do with the hard vinyl plank flooring and his feet falling asleep for a little big when he gets up from there. My one thought is, if you can get a quick video of him when he is limping that could be really helpful for your vet.
