Monty is coughing/choking almost none stop

That sounds like what mine do when they have a bad bout of hayfever when they are sleeping. Apparently it's worse at night because, well something to do with the esophagus relaxing (the vet explained it once). It's like a snorting with inhaling and it does scare them.

Try an antihistamine, they are safe for dogs and it's a way of determining if it's an allergic reaction to something. Tully and Della are currently 6kg and they get half a zyrtec. Or if I've given already given a zyrtec during the day I give 1/4 or 1/2 of the blue phenergan (I think it's 10mg). Usually dog dose is half human dose so if you don't have those do you have other antihistamines in the house?

Hope it is just that and not kennel cough. With all the social distancing it would be awful if he still managed to get it. The kennel cough sound is a quite distinctive backwards sneeze sound.

Agree with Caro about an antihistamine if you suspect it's an allergy. If nothing else, it might calm him down since he's probably worked up by now. I'd use Benadryl if you have it, or Caro's suggestion of Zyrtec. I give one 25 mg Benadryl tablet to mine who are 20 lbs. Monty is smaller so you may want to try half a tab. If nothing else is working that may rule out allergy if you can't get him to the vet.

Also Sheep's suggestion of a clean Mr. Broccoli is a great idea too! You never know, and something had to trigger this.

Thanks everyone, you've been a huge help :hugs It really is appreciated!!
The rabbit was nearly a week ago so I don't think it was that but you never know. Great call about Broccoli, I'm going to switch him with a back-up now! He keeps laying down cuddling Broccoli so if it is something on that then it will keep 'infecting' him.
I have Benadryl in the house so I'll try him with a half one now and cross my fingers.

The poor guy is exhausted, I've just had to carry him outside to pee. I just need something to ease it for a few hours so he can get some sleep, it's still around every 5mins currently so he's not getting any time to nap.

Awwww poor little guy:cry:...I feel so bad for both of you! Sending healing prayers that the Benadryl helps him feel better and allows you both to get some rest! :fl
Update us asap!:hugs
