My Sweetie

Corrina, you really are showing a lot of inner strength and that will help you get through this period of grief and come out a wiser and stronger person. It may not seem like it now, but it will happen.

It's perfectly OK to be angry. I can't see anyone here reacting any differently in a similar situation. Anger is healthy until it becomes all consuming and you either act on it or it completely changes you. If that's what is happening then you are 100% right, you need to get to a councilor ASAP. Recognizing that you need to talk to a grief councilor to help you is a sign of that strength I mentioned.

Make sure you find the right councilor to help you with your situation since not everyone can understand the relationship we have with our companions; councilors are human also and therefore not perfect. Remember, you may have to try multiple councilors to find the right one for you.

Sweetie knows you loved her and she knows what you are doing now to stop the person who did this from causing any more harm and to protect yourself and your family. We at Sheltie Nation know you would never do anything to intentionally put any of your furry friends in harms way.

We are all here for you; to be a shoulder to lean on, to cry on. Heck, I'm going to be in Michigan in a few weeks and there have been times I've considered driving the hour and a half from Novi to your town just to give you a huge hug.

For now, a virtual hug will do... *hugs*

Good Morning, Corrina. I start my day with prayers for you, and I end my day the same way. When the pain washes over you, please know that at that very moment, someone -- many someones on Sheltie Nation -- are thinking of you with love and support at that very moment. Sweetie is your link to Heaven, and despite the evil that sometimes threatens to overwhelm us, God is beside you. And if you're angry with Him right now, that's ok -- He's big enough to take it.
Love,

I agree with all that has been said. You have shown tremendous strength throughout this whole ordeal. It sounds like it is the end of a long, unpaved, pothole-filled road. You may have to tread the potholes a little longer before you can get onto the smooth highway, but you are on your way. It is so wise of you to recognize your own need for a counsellor. I'm sure you feel a little better by posting here, but talking about it in person with a relatively unbiased person will truly help you out in the long run.

Hugs from me and puppy kisses from My Boys.

Corrina and Family

Please know we are all pulling for your safety and recovery from this horrible tragedy. The Serenity prayer is always a great one to help keep us focused on things we could not prevent because we aren't all knowing.

God grant me the Serenity,
To accept the things I can not change.
To Courage to change the things I can,
and the Wisdom to know the difference.

My prayers and thoughts are with you always.

Corinna I am so sorry for your hardships and grief.....I know that it is hard to make big changes in one's life but it sounds like you are setting out on a new and stronger path for you and your son. Bless you, and find healing and hope. I'm praying for good things for you and your son.

You have the love and support of all of us. Hang in there.

Don't let what happened to Sweetie change who you are inside. You are that warm caring loving person that is able to open her heart to so many others. Get the help you need to deal with the loss.

Don't forget your other furkid and your son. How proud you must be of him for all that he tried to do for Sweeite.

Corrina

I think you have made the right decision in seeking professional assistance. I would do so ASAP.

You definitely need legal and police assistance - perhaps restraining orders to keep you and yours safe. A crisis counsellour is a great place to start.

And when you are ready, you may or may not want the assistance of a therapist, to work you through why you put up with this situation for so long. But that's step 2.

Step 1 is for you to ensure that you feel safe again.

My heart is with you! Stay strong! It's obvious you have it in you, but don't forget to take time to care for yourself too....you are going to need some healing here, when all is done.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have been away from the forums for awhile and have just now had the moment to sit and try to catch up. I am just stunned as to what I read. Everyone here has some good advise. How is your son doing? Know you, your son and furkids are in our thoughts and prayers.

Today has been a fair day. Not alot of tears just a lump that stays in my throat. Buddy wont go out to potty where Sweetie and him used to go out together. He insists on me walking him down the road where I always walked him and Sweetness. I dont know if he is looking for her or if he is trying to keep me busy so I dont cry. He is so sick of me hugging on him. He only likes to snuggle at night. Sweetie was my cuddle bug. The chihuahuas dont seem to be bothered much by this as they were kenneled that night. My son Rico is doing well. He is still having flashes of the night and it really bothers him. He was so brave for what he did trying to save her all the way. I am so glad I showed him cpr for my dogs. Him doing so made it possible to be in my arms when she left us. I'm so proud of him for being able handle an emergency like that, since he is still just a kid.
I cant tell you all enough how much it means to me to have all of you!

Corrina,
I am sorry from the bottom of heart for all that has happened. You are in my prayers. I am glad you are going to go to a crisis counselor. I work with crisis counselors at my job. They are good folks. Caring and very wise. Many times throughout the day and nightime I think of you and continue to pray for your strength. I wish I could give you a hug.
With love from,
Denise (Mally's Mom)
