Rachael Ray's dogfood

I got some of the TOTW High Prairie food today and we still had some Rachel Ray left and Dad had two bowls one with TOTW and one with Rachael. Penny spit out a piece of TOTW and Trevor ate some but went back to Rachael Ray. Should we just eliminate the Rachael Ray altogether and force the issue? I told Dad that the RR is probably like junk food so of course they will want that instead.

I wouldn't remove it altogether. you don't want to upset their stomachs. Still offer it. just gradually feed them less and less of rachael ray's food.

Would mixing the 2 dog foods in one bowl be a good idea or would they pick out the RR and leave TOTW? The cat dug right into TOTW cat food!

It depends on the dog. Some does will pick out the good stuff (junkier food). Sadie and my family's sheltie Milo will eat anything that comes into contact with the junkier dog food :rolleyes2:

When I tried to slowly wean Megan from Castor & Pollux to Royal Canin, she completely rooted out the C&P and only ate the RC. I tried to keep offering the other, but she ultimately weaned herself.

Remember, what's right for other peoples pets might not be for yours! :wink2:

Well Trevor just heaved up both foods. So I don't know if the TOTW High Prairie is too rich or if he has to get adjusted to it? He ate mostly the Rachel Ray that I saw.. so.. not sure why he barfed.

LOL, at our co-op, there is always a bag of TOTW kitty with a huge HOLE.

they have to keep a bag on the bottom shelf for the resident cat, or else he opens all of them to munch.

dog food analysis

I'm new to the forum so this is my first post. After health problems with my first Sheltie (he developed fatty tumors on grain filled food), I got very interested in dog food. There is a web page (dogfoodanalysis.com) which rates and explains about dog food. I found it both enlightening and surprising.
Maxine (18 months ) is now on Wellness Core and does wonderfully on it.
