That sounds a LOT better from the other day. Unless I missed it somewhere (and I might have) wasn't this the first time she has went to the bathroom since being sick?
No, it was the first time I'd seen her go. She held it for quite a long time at the vets when they were running tests. They expected her to go in her kennel if she got desperate, since they didn't want to take her out right away when they didn't know what was going on with her.
But they let me know that she did have bladder/bowel control and was going on her own. It was such a relief to see that she was able to go on her own, as she REALLY wouldn't have liked help.
YAAAAY! I'm so happy to hear about her improvement! I bet your heart just leapt when you saw her walking towards you and smiling. What great, great progress.
Hope you get your packing done and on the road in time. Travel safely!
It just about made me cry with relief. I've been so worried about her and heartbroken that this happened. Since she's so young I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that maybe she'll make a full recovery. Honestly though, I'll just be happy if I can take her for walks again and let her run with her other dog friends.
THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!!!! YAY!!!!! I'm thrilled she's making great progress. She seems to be progressing at the same pace Chandler did. The only think I am seeing now with him is his rear legs are weaker If he gets a drink of water he will lay down instead of standing, wobbles a little, and he can now jump up on my bed but sometimes I'll be in the other room when he's up there and he will give me the save me Bark! because he doesn't want to jump down so I am assuming it is causing him pain. He's also been turning away from many foods.
I am so glad you got the boots for her. Keeping you in our prayers Dawn,
Gypsy and Chandler.
And his foot is still knuckling under sometimes. So the boots were a good investment.
Is he in pain or is he afraid of jumping down?
Sadie doesn't seem to be in any pain, except when I pick her up. I think all the carrying is making her sore on the point where we lift her. I've been relying on the sling more to support her, which she seems much more comfortable with. She does not like being carried.
She doesn't seem to have too much difficulty with drinking, but she won't eat unless we hold up the bowl for her.
She's been eating REALLY well. So well I might have to cut back on her food a tad at some point since she's not really getting much exercise.
The boots don't fit very well since her paws aren't very big. I have to make them as tight as possible or else they slide down. Nothing wrong with the boots and I don't think anything else will do a better job.
They help her immensely on slippery surfaces and will be good when I eventually start walking her again, since her one paw does knuckle under.
She looked pretty insulted when I put one on her front paw, but doesn't seem to mind too much when I put them on her back paws thankfully
Wonderful news, Melissa!! Thanks for making our day. You must be so relieved, and now at least you can all go off on your vacation and maybe relax a bit.
Think about an x-pen for Sadie if she's too confined by the crate. That way she would still be confined but be able to move around. If you don't have one, they're in most big stores or pet stores.
Have a great vacation!! Hugs to you and pats to Sadie and Ginny.
I'm still so shocked and relieved that she's doing so well that I could just cry. She's still pretty wobbly and we need to keep a close eye on her but she's come a long way in such a short time.
With the use of the sling and boots she's adapting really well to being helped, which is also a big relief. Although she's frustrated at spending so much time in her crate, she also seems to be returning to her regular, happy go lucky self.
I do have an x-pen that I suppose I could bring. Thankfully my in-laws have a large trailer that they're bringing up so the x-pen should fit well.
Sadie loves to be outside so I guess that would be a good way of allowing her more freedom but also keeping her separate from Ginny and Jazz (my in-law's bc). I'll give DH a call and ask him to bring it over too. Thanks for the idea!
