Shaded sable with raccoon eyes

Recent pictures

Here are some more recent pictures. His coloring seems to change slightly everyday.

Our first attempt at gluing his ears didn't go so well, lol.

One ear came unglued. He's cozy on his favorite blanket.

This one is from today. He still has the glue residue from when we tried to glue his ears together.
He hated that and scratched vigorously until they came apart (ripping his own hair out).
We're happy with his ears now.

He has a really, really cute face! The rings around his eyes are so dark they look like they were stenciled on! LOL!

Thanks!

To anyone interested, I think I found the family line that Riley's dad came from. I'm just assuming since the coloring is so unique, and I happened to find a picture of a litter that has the coloring. That breeder just happened to be in Ohio as well, so I think that's too much to be a coincidence.

We learn something new every day!

I too have a sheltie with similar coloring and dark markings on her face so I'm glad to see a sheltie who looks similar to mine! My sheltie's name is Sammi and she is now 6 months old. She had a dark blaze as a puppy but the rest of her was a light beige color. It looked like she was wearing a muzzle, and had dark markings under her eyes. Now her color is much darker all over and she has a lot more black markings. I often wonder if she is not a pure sheltie, even though her papers say she is. Her papers say she is sable but i thought sable shelties all have a white blaze? I don't know what her parents look like. I will try to post a picture or two.

Not all shelties have have a blaze. My sable, Dusty just has a little triangle of white on his nose, and my bi blue has no white at all on her face.

Hey, i too have a sheltie with racoon eyes. The markings on her face ,especially the blaze, changed a lot, but always racoon eyes. Now the white on her face is more like a snip. Haven't seen any other dogs with these eyes until your Rilely. Sally was a puppy rescue so know nothing of her line, and I wondered if she was pure sheltie until she grew up. She's a sheltie...

She has such pretty coloring. Her face almost looks brindle.

It's such an interesting colour. I wonder if it is more like what shelties originally looked like??

Just for future reference. The CKC only registers pure bred dogs. Each puppy is registered by the breeder of record, first as a litter and then individually. It must be permanently identified before it leaves the breeders home with either a tattoo or a microchip that is recorded on the application for registration.
Foreign bred dogs must have a 3 or 5 generation pedigree - it's been awhile since I had to do one - and registration paperwork from the country of origin accompany the application for registration complete with signatures from the seller and purchaser.
