Sheltie Quirks

Aztec does that back stretch almost everytime someone tells him he is cute. lol. I am not sure why, but I think he picked it up from my older dog, who also does it.

Aztec barks if we try to do anything in the backyard, he also picks my feet up in his mouth and places them in the appropriate position. I am always walking to fast, or not fast enough.

Ginger also likes to lick lotion.

I don't know if this is a Sheltie traoit, but when she's excitied (like when I come in the door) she wags her whole rear half, not just her tail.

She like to sleep with her head propped up on something. When shje first came home with us, it was on the bottom rung on a chair. How unfcomfortable, but she'll she lean her head on something hard these days.

Loves to chew on paper, toliet paper rolls, etc

She also does the down "plop"

When we're having a conversation, Ginger has to speak and add her 2 cents in as well. She doesn't want to be left out.

Quirks, boy I have a list of them!

Marlie is like Ginger when I get home, she almost bends herself in half wagging her tail! She also has to mouth my hand as if to say that I've been gone to long. When she is frustrated with us for not listening to her she will act like she is biting the couch, coffee table, whatever is close to her face! When you ask her if she needs out she will circle you and the dinning room table several times and then nip you at knee level if you are not moving fast enough. Her latest thing is to get my hubby's attention at night and herd him to the pantry until she gets a treat! Smarty pants!!

Rasha does the stretch ever time you talk to her. Not sure why but she does! She will bark forever at you when you get home, almost like she is telling you about her day. She will also rub her face down the couch and the loveseat after she has eaten! Brat!!

Spencer does some of the things already mentioned. Another thing he does -when he chooses to lay down on the floor, he generally figures out a way to be next to a piece of furniture so he can put his head under the desk - bureau - chair, etc. When he's on his own doggy bed, his body is on the bed and his head is on the hardwood floor. When he's on my bed or the couch or "his" chair, his head is on the softest pillow available. Go figure.

1) Lotion, and hot water from the shower - both dogs - love to come licking when I step out. I use the towel on my body and arms. The pups dry my legs and feet, then Indy steps in to lick out the shower. No soap residue in my house!

2) Bacca doesn't like his head touched when being petted (tho' he's totally fine when being groomed)

3) Indy jumps and jumps and jumps and jumps! There is no situation that doesn't warrant a jump.

4) Bacca is very protective of me against Indy (or jealous!?) When it's bed cuddle time, Bacca plants his body to prevent Indy from getting close to me. Indy circumvents this by leaping over my knees, directly into my face, then Bacca steps in and pushes him away.

5) Indy hates the blow dryer, and Bacca always chases Indy away from the bathroom when I start to dry my hair - it's like he's trying to stop Indy from annoying me.

6) Indy has a book fetish! No book or magazine is too rich for his blood!

7) What's mine is mine and what's your's is mine. Two bones, identical, placed in front of each pup and one is always fought over and the other ignored. Indy normally wins and then Bacca comes over to me to complain (yep, just like human siblings!)

8) And the most shameful quirk of all....my teenage son has been known to bring pot into the house (despite my ongoing prohibition ). Bacca has a particular appetite for it, and can smell it a mile away. Yes, I've come home from work to find Bacca totally stoned, flaked out in the backyard and staring at the clouds! Just dreaming away! Then he's ravenously hunger later. Truly! :o:( Yes, my dog is a pothead! :eek2:

Oh, and one last that I forgot....

Bacca plays fetch and tug of war with himself. Must be his deprived childhood with not enough friends! He'll grab a toy, shake his head a few times to get some momentum, and toss it down the hall to chase! Brings it back and does it again and again! Indy looks at him likes he's nuts!

Tug of War is similar where he grabs a rope toy and shaking his head, battles an imaginary opponent, growling all the while! It's too funny!

I love the quirks so far!

Maia:
1. will also wag her entire rear end when she gets really excited.
2. She will also come running at full speed whenever anyone sneezes! She will run up to you and jump up at your nose, trying to nip it!!
3. She also loves to lick you dry after a shower. She will come into the bathroom, move the curtain over and put her head on the tub and wait until you acknowledge her and let her lick you hand. When she has had enough, she leaves only to come back in a few minutes and do it all over again. Then when she hears the shower is turned off, she bolts into the bathroom so she will not miss licking you dry! :rolleyes2:

Chinook, his quirk is any ball larger than a tennis ball. He will bark at it for hours and hours. He also lets out a huge sigh right before he goes to sleep.

Both will bark at anything that has anything to do with cleaning.

great topic!

My pup Bailey has MANY quirks. Here are some:
-She barks her head off every time the phone rings and when I'm about to finish my conversation she starts barking again so she can say goodbye.
-In the morning she races to our living room and starts barking and attacking the windowshade covering our big window--she doesn't want to miss anything such as the paperboy or dog walkers and their dogs.
-She likes to "help" me dry off after my shower and she, too, loves to lick my foot lotion after I've put it on my foot, of course.
-Bailey has to circle and circle and circle and circle before she pees or poops
-She loves to antagonize our kitty and then when the kitty starts attacking her (in play) by biting her tail or climbing up her legs she will act like she is being persecuted. But...later they will stretch out on the couch side-by-side and sleep together in a "spooning" position. So cute.

Joey has quirks too:
-Every time he goes out he poops--I don't know how he has so much in him??
-When he is sitting on the couch and sees something outside the window he leaps (I mean, he gets serious air) off of the couch to look out of the window.
-He loves to chase his own tail. He has no interest in playing fetch-if I throw a ball or a frisbee he'll run over to it, then look at it and come running back to me without picking it up. ?????

Both Bailey and Joey go crazy when I come home after work and they both keep nudging the other one out of the way so s/he can get the most hugs and kisses. They also seem to like the other one's bone or toy much better than the one that they are given--lots of tug 'o wars over whatever the other one has. :)

That's it for now...I'm sure I'll think of others later... All I can say is that they are SO entertaining who needs tv??:wink2:

LOL one of mine comes running to me when I sneeze and barks at me...dont know what thats all about, only thing I can think of I had a horrible cold when I brought her home?
All of mine hate tinfoil they bark and run like nuts!!:rolleyes2: LOL
and Ice from my fridge they think that filet mignon comes out of there I swear you hit the ice button and they all come running for crushed ice....
