Surgery today....

Our vet has never required an over night stay. Nobody is there anyway during the night. When my Mocha had her tumor removals, she came home by 2p.m. Drop off is at 7 a.m. and that required a lot of muscle removal and a 4 inch incision (on an 8 lb. dog). All my pets (past and present) have always done fine. I think they recover better in the comfort of their own home. We do have a good E.R. vet hospital about 20 min. away if there is a problem. I guess some vets require an overnight stay???

Boy do I miss her. I'm not accomplishing a thing here at home with her on my mind!

I can certainly feel your worry in your posts. It is hard when you leave them.I think that I felt that particularly in Bumper when we left her overnight for her spay. All I could think about was..darn here she is blind, she's never known the likes of a crate. Only a portable carrier on our trip to NY.But certainly not a place where she was forced to stay for any long period. so being in a cage, overnight nearly wore me out with worry. I thought for sure she would be scarred for life of fear.

But she did wonderful, and I am sure Ember will be fine. Before you know it she will be back home resting comfy in your arms.:wink2:

When Chloe was spayed this past spring, she came home in the late afternoon (and I dropped her off at around 7 AM that morning).

Looking forward to your update!

Dani

Always scary when we drop them off for surgery. I know when Maggie had her teeth cleaned last month that it seemed like forever till I got her home!! They house was way to quiet.

Grrrr.....

Well, they didn't call around lunch time so I called them at about 12:45. There was a recording that said they were closed for their weekly meeting from 12-2.
So, I just called a few minutes ago. They say she's doing great and she can go home after 4:30. This is later that usual. They said their surgeries were running late today. This place is ticking me off!

After Mocha's 2nd tumor removal surgery, I called to check on her. The first one was cancerous, so it was expected that the 2nd one was too, but the lady on the phone told me it was a benign fatty tumor. I was so ecstatic as you can imagine. But it turns out when I got there to pick her up, I questioned the vet in person. He looked at me like I had to heads and said "no, it's the same as the last one". The lady gave me the wrong information!!!! I know people make mistakes, but I just get the feeling she didn't really look at the chart.

Anyway, that's my rant. I will keep you posted when she gets home!

Glad all of that is behind Ember and that you can take her home this afternoon.

I understand where you're coming from regarding the lack of communication. It only serves to let my imagine go wild with worry, even if my brain is trying to be rational about it !

Give Miss Ember a hug from all of us.

They do tend to talk to us like idiots most of the time!

Glad Ember's surgery is behind her and she's home with you! (I'm sure she is too!) Pats from us.

She's HOME!!!

Ok. She's home and groggy, but doing well. I'm going to make my first attempt at posting a pic from photobucket. Note the belly scar and purple bandages on her hind legs.
