The weird things Shelties go ballistic over...

Aztec likes to watch me clean. Doesn't mind the vacuum or anything. What he loves is when it is all clean he gets up and surveys the room.

Aztec goes ballistic if anyone does yard work. No raking, lawn mowing, weeding, picking vegetables. This requires active (and barking) supervision from the sheltie yard police.

  1. Cadfael goes insane over anything with wheels, which I gather is common; however, he has earned the nickname "Twirly" from our neighbours, because that's what he does at the end of his leash when any wheeled vehicle has the temerity to invade his personal space (which is about the size of half a city block). He twirls around madly while barking his foolish little head off. When the "threat" is gone, he turns and smiles proudly at me, as if he was responsible for scaring it away. Twirly the wonder dog... :rolleyes2:
  2. We live in an apartment with a front door entry buzzer. If the phone rings with single rings, Cadfael doesn't react at all, as that's a normal phone call. But if he hears double rings, indicating someone at the front door asking to be buzzed in, he goes ballistic, because he knows that means someone will soon be invading his home! He's so intelligent sometimes it's scary.

Its the sheltie spin - Deska is a master of the spin!

And I thought I was the only one with an odd sheltie.

My Honey loves to bark at condominium car garage doors opening and closing, construction cranes moving, parking gates going up and down, young children while giving them a wide berth, and cars going "whoosh" as they go by her on rainy days. She always wants to pursue those.

We also live in a condo. We have a mechanical room beside our unit and when the cableman goes in there, Honey goes ballistic.

Gotta love our shelties' odd habits. :)

Lets see. Each of my dogs react to different things.

Justice goes crazy when the phone rings. I only have a cell now so I try to keep it in my pocket on viberate. Also he will react to anything Ember is excited about. If he is alone he usually is very calm.

Ember goes nuts over doorbells(even on TV), the phone, the washer going into the spin cycle, the cat scratching his claws on anything other than his scratching post(guess I yell at him to much:smile2:) Squirrels/rabbits in the yard-she bounces off the back door to be let out. Sneezing. People tapping their feet.

Diva hates sweeping. She jumps on the push broom and bites it while she goes for a ride. The vacuum. She is my first dog to hate it. A new one in the last 2 weeks. Leaves falling off the trees. She's just playing but she runs back and forth grabbing leaves as they fall, barking her fool head off. I about died laughing.

So true!!!

I discovered another one tonight, Toffee went bonkers over my new DVD player, it magically opens you know... LOL His eyes went as round as saucers when I remotely opened it, he was growling fierce like, pointing at it, I swear... jumped off the couch (we were watching a movie snuggled together) but he turned around and looked back at me.. like holy mother of god, mum, did ya just see this??? It needed to be barked at, clearly...

Shelties and their odd habits, love them!!!!

Smokie's thing is:
1) plastic easter eggs, he goes bananas over them along with plastic pop bottles. He will stare at you as you are drinking just waiting till you are done and give it to him.

2) Rocks Smokie has a thing for rocks he digs around them, growling and caring on.

If someone is on the tractor outside her fence
If I send her around the couch, then run down the hallway, she goes CRAZY!
