What Breed Has Your Sheltie Been Confused With?

I didn't know they came in any color other than sable until a little while back. After the heartbreak with Fluffy's coat I don't think I will be getting another tri or black colored dog. I think they are so pretty though! I want my next dog to be a sable collie/sheltie girl.

My brother's aiming for a tri bc if he can get it, so then I'll be able to walk the whole colour band. Cadbury counts as sable, right?
 
So far I think 95% of the people who have seen Miko ask if he's a baby collie... he's only 12 weeks old and is very clearly a puppy, so I guess it's difficult for people to tell what he's going to grow up to be.

This past weekend was really the first time we've had him out... I had no idea that EVERYONE stops and talks to you when you have a puppy. Holy smokes!... It took us 1/2 an hour to get out of the Home Depot parking lot because I took Miko out to potty and everyone going in and coming out of the store wanted to stop and talk to me about him or pet him, etc.

Now I see why people joke that getting a puppy is a great way to meet dudes/chicks!! Luckily my SO is a very confident guy and knows that I love him endlessly!!! :winkgrin:
 
well my parents think daisy isnt a sheltie...but part deer and part fox:lol: . but ive also had people tell me there miniture collies..or miniture shelties:confused2:

Get a bi blue and it will continue forever. I can't take Ember anywhere without people mobbing us. Of course Ember just eats it up.

BTW if it a puppy looks like a sheltie or a collie and it is a bi blue or bi black , it is a sheltie. Collies don't have the bi colors. More color trivia for you, Sophie.:wink2:
 
I get asked if my blue merle Sheltie is old. I say, "Yes he is but he was born that color." That throws them for a loop! :biggrin2:

We get the miniature collie comment all the time. I had a crazy lady in the vet's office tell me I didn't know what I was talking about, that my dog was not a Shetland Sheepdog and it was most definitely a miniature Collie. When I said, "Uh sorry to tell you this but there's no such breed as a miniature Collie", then she really got furious and started ranting about all how she knows there is so such thing because she owned one years ago. I just nodded and said "Okay sure...ok...you're right." :rolleyes2:

Must have been the same crazy lady I ran into. :lol:

I have gotten the "your dog must be really old comment" too. They would always get confuse when I would say how old she was.
 
I always seem to run into someone crazy at the vet's office. I think it's the neighborhood. I think this particular lady had been drinking a bit before she came in as well :no:

It bugs me too!!... Why would you ask me if my dog is a breed that doesn't even exist!? :rolleyes2: Meh, I guess not everyone can be totally "up" on their real vs. nonexistent dog breeds! :razz:
