What has your sheltie destroyed/chewed so far?

Oh MY Gosh !!

I think I would have freaked out !! I bet he won't go near it ever again is right.:eek2: I can just picture it though. Mouth closed unable to bark and with evidence stuck to paws. Good one for the books doomsday!! It was a doomsday for the poor dog thats for sure.:uhoh:

My new pup has taken up where my old pup left off....

12 years ago, Timber destroyed by living room couches by chewing the seat cushions. I never replaced the couches - just covered them with a throw.

My new baby has pulled off the throws and discovered some wonderful, already opened up seat cushions, with fluff just ready to be pulled out!

One of mine we knick named Chewy. When he first came to our rescue he chewed up several fire logs for the fireplace, then he got onto my desktop and ate 6 Motrin (which landed him in the hospital the day after our Rachie passed), then he ate the firewood kindling, the leather on the recliner handle, several small plastic garbage cans, he climbed up on the bathroom counter and ate a bar of soap, my hubby's sheepskin slippers, several pairs of his undies, kleenex and he attempted to eat some aluminum foil. I also have many spots on my diningroom table legs where he tried to make toothpicks and he chewed up a plastic placemat and a brillo pad. Fortunately this did not last long (the eating anything not tied down) He was 7 months old when he came to us and stopped chewing when he was 11 months old. It did not seem to matter that we supplied him with kongs and homemade biscuits. If it was within his teeth grasp, even behind locked doors...he found a way to get to it. Was a not so fun 4 months :) lol Now he just likes to lick the inside of his food bags

Willow and her 2 dozen donut holes!

Ahhh ... Willow ... my dear sweet over-weight girl (she is currently on a diet since June). I knew when we first adopted her she was a "dumpster diver" (she went through all the trash cans in the house) - but she has since graduated over the last 3 years to actual thief.

Her most recent caper involved removing a box of 3 dozen blueberry donut holes from the kitchen table. She ate most of them -- we know it was her since she has a wonderful way of showing her gratitude for a good meal. Willow will track you down and burp at you. Well, this time it was more of a full-hearty belch! That is about the only thing that kept her from getting a good old fashioned scolding ... We were all laughing too hard to be upset.

As to be expected when she did her weigh in at the vet, she gained a pound! :(

I have 2 shelties, Meeko (15 mo) and Indy (10 wks). Meeko is a rescue and I can barely get him to eat his food, let alone chew anything he's not supposed to! Indy has been very good so far (knock on wood). I have caught him chewing the outdoor mat, picnic table legs, and geraniums. A nasty sounding "uh-uh" followed by a giving him an appropriate chewy has worked for me. He likes to chew twigs in the back yard but I can't tell if he is actually eating them. Hasn't chewed anything in the house......yet!

It's been a very long time since I had a puppy and I didn't remember the chewing, probably because I always had prior to my two Shelties out door dogs.

This puppy has so far chewed up an electrical cord to my George Forman Griller, ugg! Fortunately it wasn't plugged in and since I've hidden behind furniture all cords or unplugged them and hid them from him. So far so good.

He's chewed up the door frame and part of the base board in the laundry room which I tried to block off with one of his gates that he chewed a hole through (the net), noticed today he's chewing up the wooden sides so now I've laid sideways a step ladder all metal, chew on that! LOL

He will chew on my cabinets I really don't care they are going to be replaced but I scold him anyway....

Socks, yes hubby's underwear, and he pulls out clothes from the hamper through the holes in the hamper and has ruined one of hubby's shirts! I've blocked it off with cardboard, so far so good!

I've had to block off the entire back of the dryer so he can't chew on the foil that covers the vent, ugg!

He eats the litter from his litter box, no not the poo but the actual pellets thingies, oh yeah must confess sometimes the poo.

He's eaten several of his chew toys already and his favorite one a fishy he ate a hole in it and told me about it, it was funny the squeek was gone and he was worried! Lately he's gotten a real desire for the wood bark off the cedar trees hubby said no need to buy him toys any longer just give him a tree! I like that idea!

I'm always trying to stay one step ahead of him, now his new favorite thing is jumping, won't be long before he'll jump the gate out of his safe area if you hadn't already guessed is the laundry room.

Oy!:eek2:

Just when I thought my heels and my old couches were getting the worst out of my teething puppy.....

Tonight I came home...fed him, potty'd him then let him run looses for a few minutes while I quickly checked my email. I emerged from my home office to find the pup had TP'd my house! He got hold of a toilet roll and dragged it around the family room several times, then chewed on the bits.

Then he found my magazine stash and was carefully chewing through the first.

What a mess!

Ah, the joys if a teething puppy! Memo to file: Never, ever leave them alone, especially if things get too quiet! The sound of a puppy jumping around is fairly safe. Dead quiet is deadly! :wink2:

haha Barb.. I have to agree with you.. silence is deadly.. I rather be able to hear my pup running around doing something.. I couldn't find my sheltie one day and I was like hmmmm too quiet.. As soon as I walked upstairs I almost died. You couldn't see the floor of my foyer.. It was covered in toilet paper. So I too had a TP'ing sheltie. hahaha.. needless to say I never left my bathroom door open again after that. I had toilet paper all over the bathroom and foyer.. Plus, out of curiousity... How is it that shelties or any dog manages to destroy anything around paper, clothes, etc.. but leaves toilet paper TP's without breaking the roll???? Please, if anyone knows the answer to this I would love to know. This to me is an absolute mystery.:biggrin2::confused2:
