Why should people join the Sheltie Forums?

Its great to read about shelties, since there isn't very many around in my area. The board has really grown in the short time I have been here, hard to keep up. I try to read the bulk of the statements even if I don't post on every comment, like Barb. Hope you know I am needling a little.

!

For the record, I no longer post on EVERY comment anymore! When I first joined, I sure did....because I was relearning Shelties all over again!

Then we went through our "silly" phase on the forum where we posted on everyone and everything! I could always find something to say. That's when I racked up the posts.

Then Kelly and the mods got smart and reined us in alot last year, then loosened the reins again. And I started to behave!

I think this forum has found pretty much a perfect balance now. The good, the bad, and the ugly. A little bit of silly, just to keep things fresh. But without the nastiness of other forums.

btw - for newcomers.....In the early days of the forum - even one year ago - we were still a pretty small but intimate group. In January 2010, I went away on vacation for a week (was it only a year ago???). I think it was Chris (?) who set up a user ID for Indy and Bacca throwing a party while mom was away. And this thing took on a life....see the link below.

For me, the funniest part was my flight was delayed by about 8 hours...so I was on the Sheltie forum and seeing this thing take a life while I was supposed to be already gone! I nailed them! At first, I thought we had a stalker that was impersonating me, so I emailed Kelly with my concerns. Then it all came to light. I finally left on my vacation, everyone had a great time - and I'm still searching for that black bra!

The following is only the opening threads....there were many threads after...have fun and search for it. This was the Sheltie Forum at its silliest!

It was one of the best times here,as we had a blast!

To be totally honest,I joined here because I knew squat diddle about shelties, and we were anxiously waiting for Trapp to come home.So in the weeks prior to him coming home,I read all I possibly could.

The forum is an unbelievable amount of knowledge, and I could not have been more lucky to be referred here. Thank you Elaine!

While this forum has grown so much in just the year I have been here,it has allowed Brian & I to meet some wonderful people. And more so lasting friendships that we treasure more than anything.

I have givin the site details to so many people, and I always refer to Sheltie Forums as "my sheltie family".

I am so bummed I missed this! I was in India for a month last year and by the time I got back it was way over.

I love sheltie nation :)
everyone else thinks I'm "one of those people" when I talk so much about Gavin, but here we are all those people :D

And Shelties are the best, most people just don't get it. and the puppy pictures are such a pick me up. I check in several times a day, just to see what's going on.

Much as I would like to, I cannot take credit for setting up Bacca's and Indy's used ID. Nor will I expose the guilty party. And what a party it was -- just ask Colonel Underpants, Commander of Nattering Springs Shelties (Deployed)! btw, he brought back the loveliest black bra for me! :wink2:

I sure hope you are enjoying it! I miss it, terribly! It was the only one that ever fit me properly!

I was just reading about Becca and Indy's adventures, so funny!
I joined this forum because I wanted to do the best for my Sheltie. I have gotten great advice here, and I really enjoy it. I wouldn't join a forum without moderators, and this one has the best. I also admire the more experienced people here when their knowledge and advice is gently given, over and over, and sometimes not taken. The dedication of this forum to reach out to people and help them become better sheltie owners is why I stay on. I have coresponded with really good people here, and I hope I have contributed something too. Sandstorm and I thank you all- it is also a place where Sandstorm can voice his opinions and have fun, and others will understand!!!

The love

The love shown here is amazing. <3 Whenever you need support, love, or just a friend to listen to you. I'd recommend it any day.

Reasons I joined the forum:
Needed some informed "ammo" to persuade the entire family to agree on getting a sheltie.
I never had a sheltie before until Mozart....needed some help here and there.
To share those funny stories with someone that would actually understand what I'm talking about
Of course the pics are really great too!
