Coconut oil- :)

I get mine at Trader Joe's. It's getting really popular and I saw it at Target the other day. Trader Joe's quality has been the best I've sampled so far. I'd make sure it were organic personally.

Good to know! Dr. Dodds suggested I give my dog Coconut oil for her dry skin. I will pick some up this week at Trader Joe's. What is the dosage for dogs?

I use this myself. I get a huge jug at vitacost something on the web it is organic and rated very high. They run specials like 10off and free shipping occasionally then I place another order whether I need it or not. I need to practice culling but I am really irregular with it and need to keep it up. I mostly forget.

I just do a TBSP a day... I forget some days and double it up. I don't know if that's the correct dose per se, though :)

I have been reading online that coconut oil should be introduced slowly, working up to full amount to be given else it could result in the runs! This is apparently due to its "cleansing" properties (being anti-fungal, bacterial, etc).

I've only been feeding 1 tsp daily.

Yes, I read that to Michele. They say start at 1/4 teaspoon for a few days then to 1/2 and so on. They give it according to your pups weight.

It's available in both flake and oil format.

The oil format can be used both topically or as a food supplement, so its double duty.

I've not been promoting it much in my store because frankly I've been a little unsure of the product vs. the salmon oil as skin supplement. I'm starting to "get" that the coconut may truly be more....but its difficult for me to push this product further until I get more field results.

So thanks for this thread! I'm finding it really helpful!

I found the Nutiva brand here in town today, and very reasonalbe compared to Amazon. I was quite surprised. I had forgot we had a vitamin store,so I checked it out today.

For the heck of it this morning,I sprinkled just a bit on thier food this morning,my heavens they were licking thier bowls!

I am going to give it a whirl, certainly can't hurt any of them, and I am anxiuos to use it as well. It's double duty, body cream, good for you internally as well.
There are lots of ways to use it in cooking as well.
