Coconut oil- :)

I have very bad roscea on the right side of my face down to my neck. I hate it and only developed it in Florida. I tried everything for years. I use coconut oil on it and I have to admit I use it then dont use it and then dont, but my roscea is very small and almost some days completely gone,

Coconut oil- :)

The benefits sound to good to be true, but I began giving the coconut oil to mine after reading this thread. For those of you who have been using it regularly, when did you notice the improvement of weight loss and energy level?

Our organic store has a variety of unrefined product, is there a certain brand that is "better" than the rest?

Just an FYI, for some dogs 1/4t is too much. I have a 10lb sheltie and 1/4t did give him the runs. I immediately cut back by half and will increase over time especially if I don't see improvement in his skin.

This is the brand we sell in my store.

I'm about to start it with Bacca whith his hypotyroid and liver issues. Lately his coat is looking really wonky, and not growing much at all, despite using Salmon oil for the last month.

It also comes in a treat format.

I Googled that one and while it looks quality, it's super expensive! Trader Joe's is $5.99, it's extra virgin, and it's organic! If you can afford this, by all means, but if you want a more affordable one and have access to TJ check theirs out, too.

I even have this statement from them after asking a couple questions about it:

Thank you for contacting us. The coconuts come from the Philippines but the it is processed here in the U.S. The coconuts are dehusked, grated, and the fresh coconut meat is cold pressed and filtered with no chemicals or preservatives added. This process retains the enzymes, lauric acid and all the other nutrients.

Our Virgin Coconut Oil is extracted from certified organic fresh coconuts without using excessive heat or harsh conditions in processing. No chemical is added. No bleaching is done. The natural nutrients and characteristics including aroma of fresh coconuts are therefore preserved. The result is a crystal clear liquid at room temperature (26 deg C) but turns solid white at temperatures below 26 deg C. It is pure 100% oil and contains no trans-fatty acid or cholesterol.

Every one has been on it, including Oreo. Trapp has lost another pound. Jasper, another 1/2 Pd.
I started Trapp & Jasper on less than a 1/4 tesp. They are now getting a level 1/4 tesp. Mia is still a bit less, but she is smaller.
Earnhardt is getting a full resp. But he weighs over 80 lb. I plan to keep them at this level ( shelties) till end of month. I read it needs to be introduced slowly as it does detox the body.
As for me...used it as a conditioned on my hair just to try it, good golly did my hair ever shine.
I am happy with them being on it. I purchased my jar at health food store here in town.

Thanks for the update! I'd like to try this product - it looks a lot less expensive than the salmon oil, with more benefits.

Great information here, thanks to everyone! I'm going to replace my salmon oil with this. Looks like a terrific natural supplement!

I paid 12.69 for the big jar I bought in town. They had the Nutiva brand as well, but a smaller jar,and about 75 cents more. I read both labels.I came home and went on the website for the other brand, and there was no differance. So I went back and scooped it up.

Its wonderful, smells yummy! I plan to go back, and use the second jar for cooking purposes.
I used a small amount last night after getting out of the shower on my legs, and it works better than any moisturizer I have ever, ever used. Just great!

I hesitated on trying on my hair. As I recently went from using the normal shampoo's..to a sulfate free shampoo. Thank you Dawn...for the recommendation. But I did not know how the 2 would interact.
I will never ever go back to using shampoo you buy with sulfates. But end result using the coconut oil as a conditioner worked really nicely. Rinse you hair well though.

I think you will be very pleased with the end result Ann. I know salmon oil is costly, and with 4 here, and adding another pup (another announcement)... I am very pleased with the results of the coconut oil.
