Dog Names....

Sca is named after his love of mirrors. Scathan Coimhead is Irish Gaelic for mirror gazer and I thought it could be shortened to a good nickname. I was wrong  he gets called Sky or Scott :confused2: as much as his real name. Of course he is such an easy guy that he doesn't care

Spitfire .... well I had some names but they did not seem to fit. After a couple of weeks he got his name and it still fits.

Non-shelties:
Dow who was a Spitz/Cocker mix and named after Dow Chemical. Long story but he was a chemical waste dump as a puppy and thus his name.

Claude was a German Shepherd and well just looked like a Claude. People would ask why I named him that and I would explain. Most would then say 'well he does look like a Claude'

I had others but those are the highlights

I have the exact list of names saved on my phone from when I got Missy.

Missy
Annie
Blair
Bonnie
Buffy
Faith
Gracie
Molly
Phoebe
Piper
Layla
Peyton
Glory
Sadie
Violet
Lila
Keira
Sierra
Cassidy

Yes, Missy really was top on the list, and it was the name I just couldn't get off my mind. It had mixed reviews. My mom and sister didn't like it, my dad loved it. It was annoying because every time I would ask someone what they thought of the name Missy, every other time I would get a "hmmm" as a response, like they weren't sure if they liked it. I think it really fits her. She's sweet and spunky at the same time. Plus she can be a really big trouble maker, so it's fun to say, "what do you think you're doing, missy??"

A lot of those names I can cross off my list because if I get another dog, I don't want their name to end in an "e" sound. Also, I think I want a male.

Name him dog :biggrin2:

For some reason, after I stopped chuckling about this one, I thought of Steve Martin's dog in the movie "The Jerk". That name was equally as hilarious (to me) but for those of you that never saw the movie or don't remember the name, Google it - it'll never pass the censor software if I try to type it. Oh, and no, this is not a suggested name for anybody's dog - just a remembrance.

Our next dog is going to be "Bark"

We have always had tree names for the boy dogs in our family and flowers/weeds for the girls. Chloe is for Clover and Dandie is Dandelion.

We thought we would venture from the actual tree types and name him just Bark.

Fitting for a sheltie, right

Awesome!

As for a fox themed name, I was actually thinking of Todd. Anyone remember The Fox and the Hound? Plus...pretty sure the name means fox in Scottish? Perfectly fitting! LOL

all of my dogs up until Jocu ended with the e sound- it was kind of a requirement for me until I just had to name a dog Jocu. and then came Destin.........
who knows where it will end?

Going back a few lists...the name I was thinking, I spelled wrong. It was Macallan for the scotch whiskey. Or Callan for short. The I started to think about Whiskey........if I'm repeating myself. I apologize. I'm home with a bad case of flu. I'm probably delirious!
