How to keep a sheltie off the furniture?

Mom doesn't allow him up at the party house. He pushes her though. He will mind her but I can tell he is always testing and messing with her. I think they both enjoy it

This IS a fun thread...lol. It cracks me up cause my Sassy uses the couch as a launch pad as she is doing zoomies around the living room & it matters not if I am sitting there or not. She will fly up from nowhere, hit me or the back of the couch and jump so far, sometimes it's about 6-7 feet. She loves to rub all over the cushions when we are not sitting down & my hubby attempts to get her call her down but she usually just gives him the look & keeps it up...lol. Also, she is only about 11" tall & she can sail onto our bed that is very close to 3' tall. She is so much fun!!!

Alright, coming clean! I'm a Shelti-on-the-bed-aholic.

Last year I bought a new mattress set....one of those really high pillow tops. Suddenly, my mattress was too high for Indy to jump up on the bed.....so what did I do? I bought him an ottoman that is placed next to the bed so that he can jump up in two stages.

That being said, my boys still know that the bed is only when David is not there. They don't even try. All it took was tossing them off a few times and they got the picture They sleep on the floor, surrounding us, waiting for any movement.....beware, btw, sleeping shelties.....I've stepped on them more times than I can count....

I am sure that they purposely sleep where you might step on them, that way you can't sneak by without them knowing!!

Sleepy Sheltie Heads

OMG do you mean you all let your shelties sleep on your beds? Hah, try stopping them. Nothing like a warm butt in your face on a cold winter's night.

Best,
Kate

Cold nights they come in handy- but not so much when you are menopausal. LOL.... funny thing is I can't count the times that Maggies butt has been in my face. Mostly because she is loving on Mark and I get the tail end.

LOL! I don't know how many times I've turfed the dogs off the bed as I kick my covers off because of "night sweats"....I think I've turfed David off once or twice as well....:eek2::lol:

I wish I had this problem! I can't get Chase to jump up in my chair or couch. He's just not a jumper.

Toffee isn't really all that much of a jumper either, lol... which is kind of ironic since he does agility
He really doesn't have a sporty.jumpy conformation, another reason my next one will be from a good breeder... hopefully somebodies awesome Sheltie is growing out too much.. *cough* Lightplum*cough LOLLLLL:o:winkgrin:
But I think our type of Shelties just wants to be sure what they are jumping on is safe and secure :D
PS, he is doing fine in agility, lol, and jumps on furniture just fine as well, it took him a little longer than most puppies, is all

Lilly is queen of the couch and is welcome on it. I like having a snuggle buddy to chill while I'm websurfing or watching tv. Lilly also gets super excited when it's bedtime and bounces around like a nut for a few minutes, even all over my boyfriend. Fortunately he doesn't mind too much. He thinks she's a little nutty though. she usually sleeps at the foot of the bed or down on her giant Labrador sized overstuffed pillow. :)
