Jewel , who is now at the rainbow bridge was born 11/97 she passed 10/26/07, while having dental procedure. :cry: I did not get her from Fleur-de-Lis, it was an older couple in Littleton directly across from the Littleton Coin Company. They are also not breeding anylonger, unfortunately. I believe their reason though is age they were getting up there when I got Jewel.
When was Jewel born? I've always tried to find littermates or the offspring of my Chloe (Daniel bred her once). Chloe was born 10/5/97 and whelped 8/99. Just curious.....

It's difficult to find littermates. Good luck on your endevour.:eek2: I too can't do rescue I don't have a fenced yard.:confused2:

I'm getting my little boy from a breeder. Wanted to rescue, but none around. Plus, I absolutely love this breeders' dogs. They're perfect.......but aren't they all?!?!?
 
From a breeder

Sadie came from a wonderful breeder in our area. I've been thinking about whether we'd like another one next year when they have more litters.

I've also been thinking about getting a rescue dog, there's a sheltie rescue society near our area that I've been checking out
 
Someday I'd love to get a dog from a breeder. But we couldn't afford it at present, and besides my dad says that 2 dogs is enough.
I'm studying to be a reputable breeder of Collies and Shelties one day in the far, far future. Wow, all those health tests that need to be done! But I want to help keep the Sheltie and Collie breeds healthy, that's my motive for wanting to be a breeder.
 
Another victim of rescue rules

Alas, no yard or fence. It's actually a pretty silly rule in the bay area, since even a million dollar home maybe only have a tiny patch of a yard (literally..like maybe 4ft x 10ft). And since I can't afford a house with a yard here, no rescue :no: Actually, I had several people suggest I adopt a rescue where my Mom lives (using her yard and house as reference) and just take him home with me. But I couldn't do that (although I did try to get her to adopt her own sheltie by sending her pictures for a few months).

Rescue isn't all that active here (I don't think shelties are that popular out here, not like in Tx where the rescue websites have tons of dogs..and yes I spent hours looking at them...and still do). So I found a local breeder. Maybe when I move somewhere were I can buy a house I can get a rescue sheltie playmate for Gavin
 
You are not the only one that a rescue turned down. I have a 10' by 17' kennel that the dogs run in and that wasn't sufficent for the rescue. We ended up finding all 3 girls listed in the newspaper stating that they needed new homes. Now since then, we have put up a fence around the back of the house - way easier to let them in and out!! I think our fenced in area is 24' by 42" and the girls love it! We have just over an acre so we might extend the fence out more later - we'll see! :biggrin2:
 
I've been looking at rescue dogs too

I've been wanting to adopt a sheltie from our local rescue group but was unable to due to the fenced yard rule. Did I mention I live across the street from a fenced park! I can understand their intentions since Shelties will chase anything that moves, however these groups do go a bit overboard with their rules some times.

Recently we've had our yard enclosed so I'm continuing to search for a rescue dog that would make a good playmate for Sadie :)
