The triggerfish?! So you are having to carry her so she can even get around?!That is worse than I thought. I guess I misunderstood. I thought she was able to walk some, but that her back leg was bothering her.
No, she cannot walk without significant help.
Still haven't heard from the vet, I'm going to call and see if I can't find anything out, but doubt they'll have much to say till they call me.

I am late coming to this thread. I am so very sorry to hear about Sadie, Melissa. I'm sure we are all sending lots of prayers that there is an easy solution to this; I know what it's like to be confronted with a major surgery for a dog you love. Good luck with the vet, we'll be waiting for updates as you can give them. Sending you hugs and love, and pats to Sadie.

Hi There, I wanted to check on how Sadie is doing today. I was surprised to read Sadie was given no steroids yesterday. As you read my vet said it was good I took him there immediately because the steroids reduce the inflammation and are a big part in a good recovery. I searched for a website that may have slings to help Sadie get around easier with your assistance. k9-cart.com has a few. Go to the products page, scroll down and you see a front sling, belly sling, and rear sling. I'm sure other sites also carry them this was the first I found and they had a variety. Hope this helps some. Keeping you all in my prayers. If you need to talk I am here and no exactly what you are going through.

Poor poor thing. I hope she heals quickly. I can't imagine what you're going through right now. I had a cat with a spinal injury after falling from a high perch (he lost the function of his bottom half) and we went to the vet immediately. They gave him a steroid shot in his bottom and I think it helped a lot. We still have a bottle of prednisone we keep in case he has any issues, but he's been fine. He has full use of his legs now/you can't tell anything is wrong. Maybe you should visit another vet? Or call for a second opinion?

It was a stroke, its called a spinal stroke.
The second one is definitely something I'll have to look into to rehabilitate her. I'll check with the vet if she knows of somewhere I can get one locally.

A friend of ours was playing Frisbee with his senior Sheltie on afternoon and had that exact symptom happen to her. It turned out to be that she "mis-stepped" on landing and twisted her spine near the base of her back. She was in so much pain that when he went to help her, she bit his hand (He's a novice with dogs.)
There was some disc damage in her lower back, but it gradually resolved with rest and NSAIDs.
Needless to say, they don't play Frisbee anymore.

Yes, get that one. It can't hurt, and they're finding out that it helps all kinds of ailments -- even lyme disease. It will promote healing in general!
