Yup. This is what I mean. Some people like them, some people don't. Use what works for you.
As for a seatbelt attachment, I bought this for Smudge some time ago. It is EXCELLENT. I don't have a problem with a harness, but this is something that those of you who don't like harnesses might think about:

Actually, this works well with a harness also. So it works for everybody.
Both those who love harnesses and those who don't. The shipping for that site is extra fast! You just attach the clasp to their collar/harness and then put the buckel into your regular seatbelt buckel holder.I got the black one a while back.

How would that be used without a harness?
My seatbelt attachment looks just like that...but I clip it to a harness to restrain her. I really can't imagine another restraint device that would be suitable for a car.

I've tried all 3: regular collar, martingale and harness.
Bailey was able to back of a regular collar (very scar) and chocked herself when she pulled. The martingale also choked her when she pulled, but she was not able back to out of it and didn't choke herself when she tried. Obviously, with a harness, she can't back out and doesn't choke when she pulls, but she pulls more with it. I've been switching back and forth between the martingale and the harness.
The martingale is the same thing as a regular collar. Except it is very loose when they are walking normal and tightens when they try to back out of it. It tightens just enough so they can't back out, but doesn't hurt or chock them when do. I have an adjustable one that I bought at the petsmart and it's perfect.
If your dog pulls on leash, he's going to choke himself whether he's wearing a standard collar or a martingale. It won't make a difference which one they're wearing if they pull.

Neither of my dogs wear a harness in the car. Like I said above, you attach it to their collar, and then slip it into the seatbelt attachment. If you look at the picture of it you can see how it works. I use it all the time. Never had a problem.

I use the same car attachment, but it came with a harness to attach to it. I highly recommend using a harness with that seatbelt attachment. It is much safer for your dog. God forbid you get in an accident or you jam on the brakes, your dog will be pulled forward and can be choked by the collar.

It was a little big for her back then, but fits her nicely now
NOW I see this link! Great (sarcasm) I was looking for one of these for weeks on line and could not find them anywhere! I eventually found one in Australia so I ordered two! Geesh! Teaches me to post on here first!
Have you tried a snoot loop?? It worked miracles for Maia and Chinook. I tried the Halti, and the Gentle Leader but found that this snoot loop worked the best and had the best fit - as you can adjust it everywhere. A vet actually invented it. Here's the link: (oh, and I ordered a petite one, not the small like they recommended for a sheltie and found it fit perfectly for my two)

I will definitely order it! Thanks! Did you get the petite regular or the petite plus? Also, do your dogs still wear it or once they got the hang of it, they were able to go back to a regular collar?

I would not be comfortable clipping it to her collar. I wouldn't want it to snap her neck if we were in an accident. I will stick to the car harness.
