today is the day..

it is just past 6:00 PST and we just picked Belle up. She is alert and doing fine.. the hernia did not have intestines involved and I am very thankful that that. They told me to give her a little food tonight. I was surprised about that as they said it could be her regular food, so I gave her 1/4 cup dry plus some pumpkin. She ate it all up plus had a little water.. I sure hope she doesn't get sick tonight. she did get sick in the car on the way home :(

Belle is wearing a plastic cone but I took it off to feed her and am taking it off for walks also so she can sniff the ground,

They gave her a 24 hour pain med, and she will be on a paste antibiotic called Vetolexin 250 mg starting tomorrow.

I hope we have a smooth night, she sure doesn't like the collar.

I am glad that Belle came through her surgery without any complications and that the hernia op was successful.

I sure do hope that she has a restful night (and you too)!

Thanks for the update. Many of us were waiting to hear :-)

All our best for Belle

We are sending good thoughts for a successful and short stay with the vet so she can be home. Sending love from all of us!

Yeah! If she hates the collar, maybe she doesn't really need it. My Collie never even sniffed at her spay stitches. Give her a little while without it, supervised of course, and see how she does.

I'm so glad Belle's surgery went well. Praying for a speedy recovery. If you do remove her collar I would put it on at night. She may get a little more curious when everyone is sleeping. I hated that Gypsy had to wear one for about 4-5 weeks the last time but had to remind myself it was for her safety.:wink2:

So glad that her surgery went well. Sorry I missed this thread yesterday, I checked back with the original thread.

How's she doing today?

last night I slept on a mattress in front of Belle's comfy bed.. she wasn't happy wearing the collar and it was awhile before we both got to sleep. She kept her food down last night thankfully, and was normal during her walk this morning, although she was slower than she usually is.. She seems to like the paste antibiotic and that is a good thing. I put one of my t-shirts on her to try and keep the stitches clean when we are outside, and to make it a little more difficult for her to lick them inside. She ate her normal meal this morning. I am continuing to mix pumpkin in with her dry food.. things are going well, happy to say.

yay! I figured out how to use the attachment feature!
