Trick Challenge #1-March to the Music

Thanks I am a bit more relaxed now that I understand why he is acting so deranged. I am trying to think of ways to burn off his energy as Diva usually plays with him all night and now they can't be together. Right now its not that there is any danger under supervision but I like his face to much to let him near Diva. You leave the in season girls alone until they are ready or you will have some new ventilation. A lesson Justice learned a long time ago. Justice doesn't even care until they are in standing heat but I take no chances so baby gates and crates are a way of life right now.

Hmmm, I had a similar problem with Epic last night at club, my friends BC is due her first season and he was all over her like a rash when we were anywhere close. No chance of doing anything remotely obedient then! :rolleyes2: Fortunatly she lives in a different village though!

Revel has always been one for the ladies but had a put down recently when a (different) friend's spaniel bitch rolled him twice when he wouldn't leave her alone. He was in high dudgeon about it for weeks :o

I hadn't thought of going backwards, thankfully the weather at long last has improved so we can do training outside. I'm pleased as Epic is now doing regular foot touches to the correct foot so time to move on to the next stage.

Marching music :eek2: hadn't thought THAT far ahead!!

Took a new vid of our progress. Merlin is doing good, but as spring/summer finally arrives in the UK Cadbury just can't be bothered anymore. He feels the heat badly, so I forgive him. He may have to take a break from the trick challenges until the weather cools down again:rolleyes2:

Nice job! I liked seeing Merlin's progression. He definitely improved with each short session.

I think we are about where you are in the first session in the video. A lot of frantic leg raising but not always in accordance with foot movements.

I am trying to be really strict with what I click him for now, to try and gain precision - but it isn't easy! And now he has the idea he wants to march really fast and all these paws come whirring at me!

I've really enjoyed the feedback and discussions with this thread, it has kept me so motivated. :smile2:

I have too, I've never done any 'group learning' with the dogs before and it has been fantasic - I've learned so much!:biggrin2:

Merlin's definitly getting the idea now isn't he  and Cadbury's doing very well inspite of the heat.
I'm focussing on building up paw touches now (rather than just rewarding for each one.) I tried moving backwards but as I was doing the training in our tiny kitchen I kept backing into the cooker which was rather off putting
Epic's really enjoying it so much. I do love how clicker training makes them so enthusiastic.

I'll try and figure out how to film a bit if I can - not used to this aspect of the new camera and all the film I've taken so far somehow hasn't downloaded:confused2:

Wow, Merlin is really catching on. Love the video. Cadbury is so sweet... thanks for the neat update...Sally is giving me more reps but she keeps wanting to sit so I try to back up and she justs looks at me, so that's where we are right now. We are having a great time with this.

Julia, what format is it filming in? I have limited tech knowledge, but I did eventually workout that my camcorder had one format for going onto the computer, then I had to edit it in a programme like Microsoft Movie Maker (free to download from their site) and then save it in a different format so it could upload onto Youtube.

Sometimes you also have to install the software that comes with the camera else the computer doesn't like it:dead:

Melinda, does Sally know the stand command? When I moved both dogs on I had to ask for a stand first and then the foot reps. I still have to ask Cadbury to stand first or he reverts to a sit.

I am up in Oregon (from Texas) since last week because my eldery and frail mother was hospitalized and now is at home and I am taking care of her.

DH has been continuing Ellie's training. It really helps that we both do the training otherwise Ellie wouldn't get her continuing education credits, lol.
