Personally, I don't believe in euthanasia as an automatic response for the first bite of even a second one. The circumstances have to matter - was the dog provoked, was it a fear reaction? However, in the case of unprovoked aggression causing significant harm I think it should be very seriously considered and if not chosen the owner should face severe penalties for any subsequent incidents and have the choicetaken out of their hands. In my perfect world, people would do the responsible thing.![]()
I actually completely agree with you. I think that the option should be there and that decision made by a judge who takes into account the entire situation...
Our incident had an unsupervised dog breaking a tie out, leaving it's property in an offensive and predatory attack on a leashed dog under control of its owner. I wouldn't lump that together, for instance with two dogs escalating somewhere like a dog park... totality of circumstances to me would dictate handling those two incidents differently. One size doesn't fit all.
Holy cow Margi-- $6,000?? We just broke $1,000 during our last visit. I imagine it will end up in the neighborhood of 2... she has some weird rental agreement, I wonder if the landlord knew about the dogs....
