What Breed Has Your Sheltie Been Confused With?

Especially before his coat started coming in, Nike has always been a border collie. Or a miniature collie. It doesn't help that I have Alaskan Klee Kai. When they're all out together, all of them must be miniature somethings!

Yogi has been mistakn for a lion on three occasions!

Riley has gotten called a mini collie, mini Lassie, or baby Lassie/collie. There are some people who immediately know that he is a Sheltie due to friends or relatives having owned them.

Last weekend at the dog park I heard the best mistake yet.... A man was showing his wife and daughter all the dogs at the park, so he pointed at Riley and said confidently "there's a mini Timmy fell down the well dog!" I almost cried I was laughing so hard!

... Dandie gets called an aussie.

I think it's the blue merle coloring. Now that Phebe has more coat, we don't get this as often, but Aussie was often the first guess and then when they realized she had a tail Aussie/BC mix.

People often think Meggie is a collie puppy. In fact, my neighbors in the back had a collie that passed last fall. The woman always says that Meggie reminds her of when Maxy was a pup. So I guess she does look like a collie pup.

I had them both at the vet recently and someone said "the sheltie" looked overweight. First of all, mind your own business buddy! Second, what do you think my Cooper is anyway??

BTW, Meggie's lost a pound or two. Not really, but she was shedding like crazy so I did a super long brushing session and she looks like she lost 5 pounds!

Chandler is always called Lassie and people ask if he is a collie. I'm always asked how old Gypsy is because of her grey hair they think she is ancient. Than they want to know what kind of dog, they usually guess miniature aussie Mini. Aussie
