I'm trying to find the info, but when I had my forever pup, she told me that there was one particular brand that was NOT to be used for Shelties.
So my only caution would be: Ask your vet...Are you sure this is safe for Shelties?
Melissa...I forgot to mention in my PM - if you have cats, you should not use K9 Advantix. For some reason, I thought you might have one, but I'm not sure. Maybe I'm confused

Reminder about K9 Advantix
I wanted to post this reminder that Advantix has permethrin, which is lethal to cats. So if you have a cat and are thinking about using this brand, you might want to do some research about having a dog and cat in the same house while on this medication. Not sure how it being on the dog would affect the cat.

I wasn't sure what to check. Up until a month ago, I had been using Frontline Plus, but it seems the fleas don't care. I switched to K9 Advantix. However, it seems that may not be working either (found 3 fleas after a trial weekend on Koji, nothing on Miko. It's very weird how only Koji gets them).
At this point, I'm very frustrated.
I live in Texas where the fleas are plenty. I started using critter oil. It works great! They are critter free and their hair is beautiful and you can also use it in the yard. Just go to criiteroil.com and you can read about it.
