Is there a "Sheltie" collar?

I too use the one from petsmart on all mine. Works really well and its cheap!
I dont leave a collar on any dogs when im not there, and definatly I dont keep an collars on the adult dogs because it does ruin their ruff and mats it down. They only wear a collar when they leave the house and thats it.

Gizmo was my dog, but my mom was in charge of him so I really had no control over what kind of collar he had or didn't have. Smudge wears a collar with an I.D. tag when he's outside because he's not chipped yet. :uhoh:

Barb, If I'm reading right it sounds like yours is not adjustable.

I bought a very inexpensive one from Jefferspet. The collar part is just like a nylon collar with an adjustable buckle so I've got leeway for fit. I got it on special and I don't see my exact one on their website. These look like it except they're patterned and mine is black:

I wasn't sure if it was what I wanted when I ordered so that's why I bought a cheap one. It works great!

Barb and I got the custom martingales from Leashes by Design. Braided leather - very thin and light but still strong. They do make adjustable martingales but then the collars are much wider and defeat the purpose of the braided leather- these are almost like a rolled leather buckle collar but are martingales.

I got the leash too....

Here's Callie wearing it at her first rally trial:

I just checked out the Leashes by design website. Nice stuff. Did you do the 6 strands? Do you mind telling me approximately how much your collar was? I would love to get one made.....I will have to send her an e-mail for pricing.

I also purchased a LBD collar, but not for my Sheltie (as he is still growing!). I got one for my Pap Pierre who is 8 lbs. I haven't received it yet, but I went with the recommendations of the lady who makes them (Shannon). 4 strands, extra small martingale chain. I went with 10" (which sounds like a lot for a Papillon, but they have slightly bulbing heads whereas our Shelties have smaller ones). You measure from the bottom of the jaw to the widest part of the head (to make sure you can slip it on). She charges by the inch. Mine, with shipping, came to $25.80. I expect for Duncan's, I will probably go with 6 strands and it will be closer to 14" - so maybe $35. I justify this with the fact that they have great reviews and seem to last forever. Also, both of my dogs are fluffy and don't we love an undamaged ruff?

Hope that helps!

Both mine got 14", 6 strand, with extra small chain. I think they were each about $40 plus shipping.

You do have to measure carefully. I already had regular martingales that were adjustable. I used one of those to measure the inside circumferance. I still wish Bacca's was 1/2" smaller, but he's still bulking up some so in the end if may be ok.

6 strands, also 14"- $37 not including shipping. Our collar was dark brown, cognac and natural tan.

Thanks! I am definitely going to send them an e-mail to get some pricing. That would be a great Christmas present for my mom, as well!
