I am just thrilled to hear Sadie is showing improvement and glad mom found something to help give her support when you take her out. Standing in her crate is excellent news! Gypsy,Chandler and I keeping you all in our prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about this, Melissa. I'll be thinking of you and Sadie. It sounds like her recovery will be a process, but I truly think you will get there eventually with lots of work and love.

Out of curiosity - How is Ginny handling this? Does she know something is wrong?

All good thoughts for Sadie that she will recover from her stroke. Many prayers coming your way.

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((BIG HUGS SADIE)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I am still catching up on everything, sorry I am so late on WELL WISHES.

Take care Melissa.

OMG - late to this thread - Melissa and Sadie - hoping for a good outcome after her health scare! I'm sure you are worried sick. She has in her favor that she is a young and healthy dog and you are a kind and loving guardian.

My thoughts and good wishes are with you and I'll say a little prayer for Sadie.
Sharon.

PS She is just a gorgeous dog, I know you love her very much.

Glad to hear that Sadie is standing. You are doing a great job at being strong and thank-you so much for the updates.....we keep checking :wink2:

Melissa, I commend you for having such a positive outlook in such a difficult situation. You're right that Sadie needs you now.

I think it's a great sign that she has improved, even slightly. That's a great step in the right direction. Let us know how her night at the vet's went.

I am so relieved for you that her bowel / bladder functions are normal ! And I'm encouraged for you in that she has been OK'd for swimming and has been comfortable in the water. This should be wonderful to keep her muscles moving and toned in little gravity and to allow her some controlled activity with you.

Welcome home, little girl !

It's such a relief to hear that Sadie seems to be responding well to the treatment. You know, if something like this had to happen, the timing isn't all that bad. While it's not exactly how you expected to be spending your vacation time with Sadie, it's a blessing that you can be with her 24x7 during a crucial time in her recovery.

I'm like Chelle, and just have to wonder if that altercation with the GD a few days ago didn't cause an injury that created the clot resulting in the spinal stroke. It's the kind of thing that could take a few days to develop and BAM! your dog goes down for what seems like no reason at all.

Phebe and I are sending you sweet Sheltie thoughts and hugs and praying that Sadie's recovery will go well and you will have many more happy years together.

Free advice (so you can ignore it for zero cost):

Don't go in with a why did you not do this like I read on the interwebz and hurt my pup tone/attitude. Instead coach it as I was wondering if there was a reason for ______ You are much more likely to get good answers and to not put the vet in worry mode about you since you want his worries to be 100% Sadie I am sure. Discussion not challenge and it will likely yield the largest benefits for Sadie IMO

It was the emerg. vet that didn't order any testing, not my regular vet. I asked my regular vet why she thinks the emerg. vet didn't order testing or prednisone, which I thought was strange. She told me that they more than likely didn't want to do any treatments when they didn't know for sure what was wrong with her. Still seems strange to me but I'm not going to dwell on it, what's done is done.

Great idea Ashley to research vets ahead of time. That's what I love about this site when we're upset about our babies we can't think of everything and with everybody's input we can really come up with some great ideas to make life easier for our babies.

Yes, thanks for the idea Ashley! We'll sort of be in the middle of nowhere but I've found two vets offices that are somewhat near by. I didn't find any emerg. vets in the area and very much doubt that there is one.

I haven't called the vet yet to find out how Sadie is today. I'll call around 10am, I don't want to bug too much.
