Trini, this might be worth a serious look - the wound specialists at my hospital use something like this on nasty wounds, silver is antibacterial.

Thanks so much for the info and link on silver...very interesting...and I will definitely keep it as an option.
We are starting to see good sustained progress with the Doxy, sprayed on Amikacin and daily 10 minute 'leave on" shampooing in Clorhexidine. Visible infection is down at least 30% in just the past week with the change to Doxy and the addition of topical Amikacin. We still have weeks of treatment ahead because aggressive treatment has to continue for 2-3 weeks post any visible infection to ensure that the infection is not "in hiding" and won't return. A return is typically far more resistant to treatment than the initial infection.
It is too early to celebrate yet...but I think we finally have an effective treatment combination for our Sketchie Boy!
MRSA is a bear...never dealt with it before and hope to never again!

Sketch actually feels and acts fine...this nasty infection has never seemed to bother him which is amazing. And, thank-you, yes...it really looks like the infection is starting to get under control.
Sketch sends you tail wags and a doggie kiss for saying he is cute!

I'm glad to hear you are getting this under control finally! Hopefully this will continue and in a few weeks he will be cured! Keep us updated.

Sketch thanks all his SN cheer leaders for checking up on him...he is doing super well on this new combo of Doxy, topical Amikacin and daily Clorhexidine baths. Absolutely no new infection and the old infection area is way down...only a couple of very small red spots still visible. So a really good update...finally!
