today is the day..

How wonderful!

I am so thrilled Belle is doing well. Aria had her surgery a few weeks ago and we had no issues. She was a bit ouchy. Belle is beautiful even when she isn't feeling up to being so!

so today the weather is just terrible! not rain, not snow, but slush.. it was awful taking Belle out for her early morning and later morning walk.. she is walking pretty slow, but doing everything normally, thank goodness. we are only going out long enough for her to do her thing. still eating and drinking well. my problem is with the antibiotics as I have never used one of those antibiotics in a syringe with cogs on them.. it took this aging brain till this morning to figure it out, even after a visit to the vet last night so the technician could explain it to me......again! I think I gave her too much last night.. if she ever needs meds again, I'm going to ask for liquid or pills as this syringe is a challenge to me.

anyway, I'm going to sleep on the mattress till her stitches are out. we are in the living room and we are pretending that we are camping, and that the fireplace is our campfire.. Belle tries to take her cone off at night so I do not want to take a chance on not being close enough to her.

You are such a good mommy to her. She is going to be devoted to you for life. So sweet.

last night we had an issue.. I must have been sleeping soundly because I didn't hear her pushing at the cone like I usually do, anyway, awoke to a chewing sound and saw Belle had pushed the cone off. I had tied the gauze quite tight so I don't know how she did it. anyway, the cone was lying in front of her and she was chewing on the gauze the vet had used for a tie. I turned on the TV and it was 2:00 am.. so here I was, half asleep trying to tie what was now too short, and worrying that she had eaten some of it. and Belle was trying to pull away because she didn't want that cone back on.. so I spoke firmly to her "come here" and then gave up trying to tie the gauze, went and found some cloth ribbon and some scissors, cut a long piece and tied the cone back on.. of course, then I felt like a heel for speaking firmly to her, thinking I had undone all the bonding over the past 3 months. It was a long time before we both got back to sleep. she kept sitting up, and lying down.. anyway, finally we did get back to sleep until husband woke me up at 7:00 for her meds.

Her walk was better. a little faster than last night, and she did her business normally and quickly, thank goodness because it was still raining.

and she didn't touch her stitches, they look to be healing.

hoping for an eventless sleep tonight.

I am sure Belle has long forgotten you scolding her. You were only doing this for her own good. so happy to hear she is healing nicely. Sleep well this evening.:sleepy:

we both had a great sleep last night.. I took Belle to the vet today for her 4 day checkup.. he cleaned up the stitches.. was kind of rough, I thought, but Belle lay there with her head on my arm and kept staring up at me.. I felt bad for her.. the vet said that the incision looked good, and to come back in 10 days to have the stitches out. I think that Belle was very happy to leave there with us.. and she was not sick in the car on the way there or on the way home, and that is a good thing.
